On Sunday, June 21, 2020, at 5:07 PM, SAPD Officers responded to assist Orange County Fire Authority with a man down in the courtyard of the apartment complex in the 4100 block of West 5th Street.

Upon arrival, officers located an unidentified adult male suffering apparent stab wounds. The officers initiated life-saving measures. Orange County Fire Authority paramedics arrived and assumed medical treatment of the victim before transporting him to a local trauma center. The attending physician declared the man deceased at 5:40 PM.

During the preliminary field investigation, officers spoke to witnesses who described a violent encounter between two suspects and the victim. During a canvass of the apartment complex, officers located a crime scene.

SAPD Homicide Section detectives responded and assumed the investigation. The identity of the decedent is being withheld pending identification by the Orange County Coroner’s Division and notification of next of kin.

The motive for the attack is unknown at this time. Detectives encourage anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward and provide a statement.
