The Huntington Beach Police Department has announced a CDL/DUI checkpoint scheduled for Friday, October 24, 2025, running from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location within city limits.

Checkpoint sites are selected based on data from previous DUI-related crashes and arrests. While arrests may occur, the department emphasizes that the primary goal is deterrence and public safety.

During the operation, officers will screen drivers for signs of impairment due to alcohol, drugs, or other substances. The department reminds the public that impairment isn’t limited to alcohol—prescription and over-the-counter medications can also affect driving ability. Even though marijuana is legal in California, driving under its influence remains illegal.

“If you plan on drinking or taking medications that may impact your ability to drive safely, plan on staying at home,” the department advises.

First-time DUI offenders in California face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, along with a suspended license.
