The Discovery Science Center is changing its name to Discovery Cube Orange County and creating a new foundation to oversee museums in both Santa Ana and Los Angeles, according to the O.C. Register.
The Discovery Science Foundation, which is in the process of establishing nonprofit status is also opening a new site in Los Angeles, called Discovery Cube Los Angeles, which will include a two-story, 71,000-square-foot museum in Sylmar, in the San Fernando Valley’s Hansen Dam Recreation Center. That site should be open by Nov. 13.
The Santa Ana site is currently undergoing a $22.5 million expansion as well.
Santa Ana residents receive up to 4 free admissions per address with valid ID (proof of residency) on the first Tuesday of every month. This cannot be combined with any other discount or offer. Excludes special events and ticketed exhibitions or shows. The next Santa Ana free day is set for Tuesday, August 5, 2014.
Bank of America cardholders also receive free admission on the first Sunday of each month. Photo ID and any valid Bank of America/Merrill Lynch credit or debit card must be presented. One free general admission limited to cardholder only. Cannot be combined with any other discount or offer. Excludes special events and ticketed exhibitions or shows.
Discovery Cube is located at the intersection of Main Street and the 5 freeway in the city of Santa Ana. Just a 1/2 mile north of 17th Street and 1/4 mile south of the Main Place Mall.
From the North: Coming from the north, take the I-5 south. Exit Main North and Broadway in Santa Ana. Turn left at Santa Clara. Turn left again onto Main Street. The Cube is located on the left side of Main Street.
From the South: Coming from the south, take the I-5 north. Exit Main Street North and Broadway in Santa Ana. Turn right onto Main Street. The Cube is located on the left side of Main Street.
