Santa Ana officers assaulted by man with Slingshot/marbles ODSD Airship “DUKE” locates suspect with in-flight video

Arrested: Hector Luis Perez (37) Santa Ana

On 6-19-04, at approximately 1045 PM, while patrol officers were conducting a felony car stop in the area of 1702 W. First Street, the suspect, who was not involved with the car stop, began slinging glass marbles at the officers with a slingshot.

The suspect was unsuccessful in hitting any of the officers, but one marble struck the rear window of a unit, causing it to shatter.

Officers directed Orange County Sheriff’s Air support “DUKE” to the area where the suspect was slinging the marbles and the flight officers located three possible suspects in the rear yard of 1712 W. Second Street.

After reviewing their in-flight video surveillance system, the flight officers were able to positively identify the primary suspect. The suspect was booked for multiple counts of ADW against Police Officers and felony vandalism.

Charges:

1. Assault with deadly Weapon on a Police Officer
2. Vandalism

  1. Since SAPD arrested this guy it doesn’t count as a crime, right? Don’t forget to shop in Santana.
