Lilton Bernardt Dooley, a 56-year-old man from Los Angeles County, was charged on Thursday with carjacking a Huntington Beach police car and leading officers on a pursuit that ended in Lakewood.

Dooley is facing felony charges of carjacking, five counts of assault with a weapon on a peace officer, a count of leading police on a chase and a count of resisting arrest.

Police officers attempted to pull Dooley over for a traffic violation shortly before midnight on Monday, but he refused to stop, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Dooley reportedly abandoned the car early on Tuesday and he was fleeing from the police officers but they caught up to him again. The then allegedly somehow managed to steal a police car and he then led the officers on a chase that ended in Lakewood. Dooley was then arrested, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.

This was not Dooley’s first rodeo. He has a prior conviction for an attempted robbery that happened way back on Dec. 2, 1992, in L.A. County, and he was convicted for criminal threats on May 14, 2014, again in L.A. County.
