On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at approximately 6:11 PM, police officers were dispatched to the area of S. Basque Ave. and W. Orangethorpe Ave. regarding atraffic collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian, according to the Fullerton Police Department.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male pedestrian in the roadway with traumatic injuries and a white Nissan Kicks in proximity. Officers immediately began life-saving measures performing CPR. The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene of the collision. Fullerton Fire responded and transported the pedestrian to a local trauma hospital where he was later pronounced deceased several hours later.

Initial investigation indicates that the white Nissan Kicks, driven by a 53-year-old female resident from Buena Park, was traveling westbound on Orangethorpe Ave. The male pedestrian, who was crossing the street in an unknown direction, was not believed to be utilizing a marked crosswalk. The pedestrian crossed the street in front of oncoming westbound traffic and the Nissan Kicks was unable to yield, before ultimately colliding with him. At this time in the investigation alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to be a factor.

The deceased pedestrian’s identity will be released later by the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
