As a service to the community, the Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) on Oct. 5 began offering free meals for children at Warwick Square and Villa Del Sol apartment complexes as part of the District and Board of Education’s ongoing mission to continue to provide free, nutritious food for students during the COVID-19 pandemic.

SAUSD is now serving free meals to children ages 1 to 18 at Warwick Square apartments, located at 780 S. Lyon St., #911, from 11 a.m. to noon, and at Villa Del Sol apartments, located at 811 S. Fairview St., from noon to 1 p.m.

Services at both locations will run Monday through Friday through Dec. 17. Any child ages 1 to 18 residing in these two apartment complexes will be able to pick up meals from these sites.

Meals will be prepared and transported from Godinez Fundamental High School to be served at Villa Del Sol apartments; meals prepared and transported from Century High School to be served at Warwick Square apartments.

Durham buses will transport SAUSD staff to each location to distribute the meals at each site.

Property managers at apartment complex will be distributing meal service flyers to each unit in their respective complex notifying them of the free meal service.

The free meal service will operate like a school meal site, whereby children ages 1 to 18 can pick up meals or parents/guardians can pick up meals for them.

SAUSD student I.D. cards can be used at these two locations. Community scan cards will be issued for children not enrolled in the District.

Meals will be served out of the busses through a side entrance/exit. Physical distancing protocols will be observed to maintain the safety of staff, community, and transportation personnel.

SAUSD has distributed over one million meals to Santa Ana children since the District’s campuses closed to help curb the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The District will also continue to distribute free meals, Monday through Friday, at 58 sites through Dec. 18, with expanded service times, so that meals may be picked up in the morning, afternoon and evening. For a full schedule, click here.
