Since the beginning of 2021, the City of Santa Ana has experienced an increase in violent crime and homicides. To date there have been eight homicides, compared to last year to date we had one. Three of the Homicides are related to illegal gambling establishments. Using a multilevel approach to address the rise in violent crime, coupled with proactive law enforcement resources, the department implemented “Operation Community First” to stem the flow of violence.

WHEN: Thursday, March 11th, 2021 – 11:30 AM

Scheduled to appear:

– Santa Ana Mayor Vicente Sarmiento and Councilmembers
– Chief David Valentin – Santa Ana Police Department

WHERE:

Santa Ana Police Department – This will be an outside event located in the covered area of the rear portion of the Police Department. Media will be provided access to the station via the Southside access gate located on 6th Street.

To remain COVID compliant, all members of the media are asked to wear face coverings, adhere to physical distancing guidelines and remain the recommended distance of six feet. A temperature check will be conducted at the police department gate entrance.

Media will be provided with video and pictures from the enforcement efforts of “Operation Community First”.
