An organization that calls itself Migra Watch posted on Facebook today that they had received notifications of the presence of immigration officers in Santa Ana on 02/23/25 at Sherry Lane and 17th Street, at an apartment complex, possibly the Palms at Sherry Lane.
Two officers were apparently present with black and white SUVs. The officers were wearing ICE vests and were armed with 9mm handguns.
A Migra Watch volunteer verified that at about 10:39 a.m. a residential landscaper was detained by ICE.
Migra Watch is asking concerned residents to call their OC Rapid Response Hotline at 714-881-1558, if they see ICE in the community.
Migra Watch did not mention if the undocumented landscaper was a wanted criminal.
Interfering with the arrest of an undocumented individual in the U.S. can lead to serious legal consequences:
- Obstruction of Justice: Interfering with law enforcement officers, including ICE agents, while they are performing their duties can result in charges of obstruction of justice. This can include actions like physically blocking agents, providing false information, or using intimidation to prevent an arrest. Depending on the severity, this can lead to misdemeanor or felony charges, fines, and potential jail time.
- Aiding and Abetting/Harboring: Providing assistance to someone evading arrest, such as offering transportation or shelter, can be considered aiding and abetting a fugitive. Federal law also prohibits harboring undocumented immigrants, which includes shielding them from detection or attempting to conceal them. These actions can result in felony charges.
It’s important to understand these legal implications and prioritize safety and legality if you witness or are concerned about an ICE arrest.
O fabulous, the “christian” far right bettering the community.
