A 13-year-old boy was killed by a hit and run driver in coastal Orange County

This morning, Orange County Sheriff deputies responded to the area of Park Lantern and Dana Point Harbor Drive for a vehicle collision involving a 13-year-old boy who was walking to school with his older brother.

The victim was located and transported to a local hospital.

The vehicle fled the area and, with the help of witnesses, was quickly located.

The suspect was detained for further investigation. Investigators believe the suspect was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The victim has been identified as a 13-year-old boy however his identity was not disclosed by law enforcement.
