ADDITIONAL VICTIMS OF TEACHER CHARGED WITH SEXUALLY ASSAULTING FEMALE RELATIVE

WESTMINSTER – Law enforcement is seeking the public’s help identifying potential additional victims of a teacher charged with sexually assaulting a female relative. Jeffrey Scott Jones, 53, Huntington Beach, is charged with two felony counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one felony count of continuous sexual abuse. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum sentence of life in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration. The defendant is being held on $1 million bail is scheduled for a continued arraignment Aug. 16, 2013, at 8:30 a.m. in Department W-2, West Justice Center, Westminster.

At the time of the crime, Jones was teaching advanced placement English at Libra Academy in Huntington Park. Prior to the crime, the defendant is accused of having regular access to children for 27 years teaching at schools including Bell High School in the City of Bell and Gahr High School in the City of Cerritos.

Between Sept. 1, 2012, and April 30, 2013, Jones is accused of sexually assaulting his 13-year-old female relative, Jane Doe, by touching the victim’s chest and vagina over her clothing and under her clothing on different occasions.

On May 4, 2013, and May 9, 2013, Jones is accused of raping Jane Doe.

In May 2013, the crime was reported to the Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD), who investigated the case and arrested Jones at his home on June 27, 2013.

Jones’ mandatory lifetime sex offender registration will bar him from entering County recreational areas and City parks which have passed the Sex Offender Ordinance.
