This week’s Cochino List includes Gus’s Fried Chicken

The O.C. Health Care Agency has released a list of the eateries (including restaurants, caterers and even school kitchens) that they inspected and shut down for the week of April 7 to April 16. Most of these eateries reopen pretty quickly after the health inspectors determine their issues have been resolved.

  • Gus’s Fried Chicken, 102 N. Sycamore St., Santa Ana, Closed: April 12, Reason: Insufficient hot water, Reopened: April 12
  • Update: Mariscos La Sirena at 515 S. Main St., Santa Ana, which was ordered closed April 5 because of a rodent infestation, was allowed to reopen April 6.
  • Avila’s El Ranchito, 2101 Placentia Ave., Costa Mesa, Closed: April 12, Reason: Cockroach infestation, Reopened: April 12
  • Update: Hooters at 1507 S. Coast Drive, Costa Mesa, which was ordered closed April 6 because of a cockroach infestation, was allowed to reopen April 9.
  • Dakao, 14550 Brookhurst St., Westminster, Closed: April 14, Reason: Rodent infestation, Reopened: April 15
  • Quan Hy, 9727 Bolsa Ave., Westminster, Closed: April 13, Reason: Insufficient hot water, Reopened: April 13
  • Kabob Republic, 1781 Newport Blvd., Suite C, Costa Mesa, Closed: April 13, Reason: Cockroach infestation, Reopened: April 14
  • The Kashiwa Ramen, 1420 Baker St., Suite C, Costa Mesa, Closed: April 9, Reason: Cockroach infestation, Reopened: April 12
  • Update: The French at 9741 Bolsa Ave., Suite 109, Westminster, which was ordered closed April 1 because of a cockroach infestation, was allowed to reopen April 13.
  • Com Viet at Saigon Supermarket, 10131 Westminster Blvd., Garden Grove, Closed: April 13, Reason: Rodent infestation, Reopened: April 14
  • Chef Chuan, 2636 Dupont Drive, Suite 40, Irvine, Closed: April 13, Reason: Cockroach infestation, Reopened: April 15
  • Pho Ba Co, 4250 Barranca Parkway, Suites J-K, Irvine, Closed: April 7, Reason: Cockroach infestation, Reopened: April 9
  • Update: Nguyen’s Kitchen at 488 E. 17th St., Suite B-102, Costa Mesa, which was ordered closed April 8 because of a cockroach infestation, was allowed to reopen April 9.
  • Elephant Cafe, 23384 El Toro Road, Lake Forest, Closed: April 15, Reason: Rodent infestation

  • Update: Big Chopsticks at 4953 Lincoln Ave., Cypress, which was ordered closed April 8 because of a cockroach infestation, was allowed to reopen April 13.
  • Update: Old Crow Smokehouse at 21022 Pacific Coast Highway, Suite B-230, Huntington Beach, which was ordered closed April 7 because of a cockroach infestation, was allowed to reopen April 9.
  • Update: Zpizza at 1021 Avenida Pico, Suite C, San Clemente, which was ordered closed April 6 because of a rodent infestation, was allowed to reopen April 7.
