The City of Santa Ana has hired Hawk Scott to serves as their new Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency Director.
If you’ve attended any of our recent City events, you’ve probably seen Hawk Scott running around with the parks and rec team keeping the show running smoothly and sharing his great energy.
The Santa Ana Parks and Recreation Agency not only plans events, but also runs youth/adult sports, recreation programs/classes, senior services, aquatics programming, and the Santa Ana Zoo. The agency oversees the City’s independent leagues as well as parks, athletic fields, and facility rentals.
Scott has over 20 years of experience in both private-sector water parks management and public-sector parks and recreation management.
Scott previously worked at the City of El Paso, Texas, where he was their Parks and Recreation Manager.
He has a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with a minor in health from the University of Texas at Brownsville where he also played college baseball as a student athlete.

The Army Corp of Engineers is proposing channeling Santiago Creek from Broadway to the Santa Ana River. This is an opportunity to get a bike trail connecting with the existing bike trailI upstream that ends at Broadway. The Corp is holding a hearing at 6:30 Jan. 26 at 601 N. Ross St in Santa Ana on this project. This would complete the bike trail from Santiago Oaks Regional Park (in Orange) all the way to the Santa Ana River bike trail. Several wealthy residents whose property backs up to the creek have selfishly opposed any sort of bike trail along this section of the creek. It is to the benefit of SA residents to complete this trail along the creek rather than force cyclists to use on-street trails.
