The Tustin Police arrested a suspect for brandishing a knife at a few juveniles

Just before 2 p.m. today, several Tustin patrol units responded to Columbus Tustin School in regard to a report of an adult who brandished a pocket knife toward a group of students.

After school today, there was an altercation between two students. Two Tustin Unified School District staff members broke up the altercation, causing the students to leave campus.

Following the altercation, an adult family member picked up one of the involved students and walked her off campus toward Columbus Tustin Park. At the park, the adult male encountered a group of students discussing the previous altercation. Following an exchange, the adult brandished a pocket knife toward the group. No students were physically harmed during the incident.

As soon as TUSD staff were made aware of the incident, they immediately contacted the Tustin Police. TUSD staff provided the police with a description of the subject and the type of vehicle he left in. Several minutes later, Tustin patrol officers located the subject near the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Irvine Boulevard. Patrol personnel conducted a traffic stop and took the suspect into custody without incident. There is no outstanding suspects in this case and no threat to our community.
