SAUSD Website Update Adds Functionality

SANTA ANA, CA – July 27, 2011 — The Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) today will launch an updated website to better meet the needs of its constituents. Visitors and users can access the website at www.sausd.us. The SAUSD website will transition to the updated website Wednesday, July 27, beginning at 3:45. For public access outside of the district network, this transition may take up to three days, based on an individual’s Internet service provider. During that time, the public would see the existing website until the transition to the new site is completed.

Main sections, which include information for students, community, families, vendors and staff, will remain prominent. The Board of Education section now has a more visible tab for visitors seeking policy information, agendas, minutes and meeting highlights. Frequently used resources and information for parents and students are prominently located on the Families tab on the homepage.

One of the new website features makes the staff portal password driven to keep internal content, files, programs, and online operational systems accessible only to the employees who have a need to access the information.

For reference, an informational PowerPoint regarding how to navigate the newly updated website is located on the homepage of the current and new website.

“At a time when communicating with parents, community members, teachers and staff, and students through online resources and mobile technology is at an all-time high, it’s imperative that SAUSD evolve its website to stay current with trends and meet the needs of its constituents,” said Alexandra Ito, Director of Educational Technology for the school district. “By making the staff portal password driven, it compartmentalizes data and information used by the district, making popular content and information the public is interested in quicker to access,” Ito explained.

SAUSD educates approximately 58,000 students at 61 dynamic school sites throughout the eclectic and vibrant Santa Ana community. The K-12 school district is the largest in Orange County and the second largest employer in Santa Ana, with approximately 4,500 educators and staff members. Contact us at 714-558-5555, or pioinfo@sausd.us. To experience the new design, log on to www.sausd.us.
