SAPD Civilian Investigator assigned to Special Investigations, along with members of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). After executing multiple online search warrants, the Civilian Investigator identified Santa Ana Resident Miguel Arenas, 34, as having uploaded images and videos of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
On July 14, 2022, after several days of surveillance conducted by members of the Santa Ana Police Department’s Career Criminal Unit and Directed Patrol, Arenas was arrested without incident and charged with Possession of Child Pornography – 311.11(a) PC.
