Ten transients were arrested and 20 refused help, at a homeless camp cleanup in Garden Grove

Last week, Garden Grove Police Department Special Resource Team (SRT) Officers collaborated with Be Well OC, Caltrans Orange County District 12, Garden Grove Public Works Department and OC Outreach & Engagement to conduct outreach and a clean-up of the Newhope St/Trask Ave. area.

During the three-day event, 30 individuals were contacted and offered resources. Unfortunately, they all declined assistance.

Who will you vote for in the OC 2nd Supervisorial District?

Ten subjects were also arrested for narcotics and/or trespassing.

  • Of course, these idiots don’t want any help because they cannot follow rules, regulations, or restrictions. They rather occupy land without costing them any pennies while shooting drugs, poop and pee wherever they want to, stealing from people, attacking innocent people with scissors, knife then get to leave the jail as soon as they get arrested.

    • People who don't want help need to be put in their own Island away from every one and let them live what ever way they want and we don't have to worry about them it's their choice now lets find them a Island somewhere

  • These problems should have been taken care of right when they first started. Now it is too late. It's the broken window theory. Why cities continue to try and build housing for the homeless, which is seldom accepted, is beyond me. Now in Orange, they closed Mary's Kitchen which was well known and did great service only to want to build homes for the homeless or low income housing.

  • First off there are plenty of homeless or low income families that would jump at the bit for free to minimal cost housing. The problem is they only showcase the most impoverished and mentally ill. Theres tons of people both husband and wife working a full time job and either a part time or side hustle just to pay rent and get back n forth to work everyday. Those are the ones who deserve a little bone thrown their way. The ones putting in the effort because theyve been told their whole lives if you work hard enough good things will come your way.

    • I was a homeless drug addict that used to sell and shoot drugs for years. I have 3 1/2 years clean now and have my own place and a job. I even drive a newer BMW.
What changed for me you might ask... well I accepted the help an organization offered me. It may even been the same one that
offered support to the people in this article.
      Some people to do change.
      I'm living proof.
