SAPD arrests three for murder and for shooting at undercover cops

Santa Ana Police Department Advisory:

Detectives arrest three for the murder of man and the shooting at undercover officers from Garden Grove Officers

Santa Ana Gang Homicide Detectives arrest three for the 10/19/2012 murder of a 20 year old man and the 11/13/2012 shooting at undercover officers from Garden Grove Police Department.

Arrested:

1. Jeamy Beatriz Melendez, Female Hispanic (23) of Santa Ana
2. Ricardo Alcala, Male Hispanic (23) of Santa Ana
3. Isaac Angel Martinez, Male Hispanic (25) of Garden Grove

On October 19, 2012, at approximately 0054 hrs, officers responded to the 4500 block of Westminster Ave on a call involving a subject down. Upon arrival officers found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The Orange County Fire Authority responded to the scene and pronounced the victim Edgar Sura (20) deceased.

Detectives believe Suspects Alcala and Martinez exited their vehicle driven by Suspect Melendez and confronted the victim about his gang affiliation. When the victim advised the suspects he was not a gang remember it is believed that suspect Alcala shot and killed victim Sura. Victim Sura had no known gang affiliation.

On November 13, 2012 undercover officers working in the area of 5th/Euclid Santa Ana were shot at and their vehicle was struck.

On 11-29-2012 Garden Grove SWAT and Gang officers with the assistance of Santa Ana Gang Detectives arrested Suspect Ricardo Alcala at a Motel 6 on Dyer road in the City of Santa Ana. There were several weapons taken into custody with Alcala in the motel room. Suspect Melendez was taken into custody at his residence in Santa Ana. Suspect Martinez was taken into custody at her place of work in the City of Anaheim.

All three suspects have been booked into the Santa Ana Police Department Jail for:

1. Murder
2. Assault with a deadly weapon
3. Gang Enhancements
