Santa Ana youth baseball kicks off Opening Day with help from Sarmiento and Tinajero

The historic Northeast Santa Ana Little League (NESALL) hosted their Opening Day celebration on Saturday with help from Santa Ana Mayor Pro Tem Vince Sarmiento.

The ceremony included a CHP officer and the Santa Ana High School ROTC Honor Guard as well as a SAHS choir singer who performed the National Anthem.

Bruce Hamlin, the owner of Santa Ana’s Guaranty Chevrolet, showed up as well, with his son, to present NESALL with a $500 donation.  He has always been a big supporter of NESALL.  In fact Guaranty Chevrolet will donate an additional $25 to NESALL every time a Santa Ana resident test drives a new Chevy and mentions NESALL.

The event was very well attended and the crowd enjoyed freshly made chicken tacos courtesy of another NESALL sponsor, El Pollo Norteno.

NESALL’s Junior team, which was last year’s California Little League District 30 Championship team, was also recognized for their accomplishments and excellence.

In related news, Santa Ana Pony Baseball also held their Opening Day ceremony yesterday at Riverview Park.  That event was attended by Santa Ana Councilman Sal Tinajero.  Santa Ana Pony also has a Picture Day and Fun Day set for March 15, 2015, from 10 am to 4 pm.
