Santa Ana police officers want to know why Reyna is hanging out with gang bangers

• I went to school with Roman Reyna & grew up down the street from him. He has never ever been a gang member. I know him personally & just because he sees 2 old class mates either from school or the neighborhood we lived in & poses in a pic with them doesn't mean he is a gang member or affiliated with them. The word homie can be used or referenced as "friend". He is a very respectful,good hearted & friendly person. I have seen his hard work in the schools & neighborhood's for children,youth & families. My 3kids attended after school program when I was working & Roman was a staff member assisting kids with homework,sports,activities & good values in a safe environment for them. He was a great Mentor to my children & helped lead them all to graduate. He also was their Counselor for summer camp & helped make wonderful memories for them. He participated to raise money & supported for more after school programs & YMCA's to be opened in many cities in Orange County. I have personally seen his volunteer & many hard work hours to our city. Just because he is running for Mayor doesn't mean he has to ignore the people in our city because they are know gang members. This story is a complete lie & they are trying to make him look bad & discourage votes for him. I condemn the writer for this story. Mr. Roman Reyna still has my vote & I will always RESPECT this wonderful man. Don't judge a book by it's cover. This story is full of politic bull crap. It's not true. I believe in Roman Reyna & the great man he is because I personally have seen what he has done, can do & will do for this city & the people. Thank you.

  • You condemn the Santa Ana Police Officers Association? They wrote the press release.

    Reyna wasn't a volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club or at the YMCA. He was a paid staffer. Perhaps if he had stayed in school he might have had better jobs.

    The men Reyna posed with weren't random homies they were hard core gang bangers. They work in organized crime. Reyna was stupid to pose with them.

    Santa Ana has many problems that need be handled by a mature, responsible educated person. Roman is none of those things. He lacks the intellectual ability to govern a city with 400,000 residents, many who live in poverty with little or no education themselves.

    There is a big difference between helping your kids with their homework and bargaining with the police union or the county on firefighters.

    You sound well intentioned but severely misinformed about the requirements of office.

    I am stunned the idiots at the Liberal blogs are lying to people.This guy is NOT capable of being mayor. PERIOD.

• Silly people! The Serve and Protect people (the police industry) needs the "mexican mafia" guys as much as The U.S. Government needs I.S.I.S.

  • What I am saying is that he is not a gang member as they are trying to portray in this picture & story. So I gave some truth on what kind of person he is. If you don't know him personally,you might believe the lies of this story & that's exactly what this story was intended for. Roman Reyna is doing alot more than most in this city for the people in our city so don't judge or condemn him for trying. He still has my vote & many who has witnessed his hard work in our communities. Plus this city needs a good change & I believe in Roman Reyna. Please vote for Roman Reyna. Thank you & God Bless.

        • Every law enforcement association has rejected Reyna. And he has declined to explain himself. That speaks for itself.

• So the moral of the story, according to the police dept. is to not take pictures with Mexicans because you may be accused of being a gang member affiliate! Good work SAPD!

• We need change in Santa Ana. Too many corrupt politicians in this city. I would vote for Roman Reyna because he is a tangible person who is in the community, hands on. He's been working with youth all his life and all these other officials are not in the community. They are behind a desk with suit and tie rubbing shoulders with SAPD or some big WIG from down town. Not impressed by non of these officials. Never even heard about half of them. GET OUT INTO THE COMMUNITY AND BE TANGIBLE AND SERVE YOUR COMMUNITY. Accusing someone of un-substantiated claim is dirty politics, and its old. People are wiser now and are ready for change.

  • For the last time, Reyna was PAID to work for the Boys and Girls Club and the YMCA. He did not do that work as a volunteer.

    I do have to wonder why he was fired by the YMCA...

• This picture shouldn't have a negative impact on Roman, I'm writing this on my wife's pho because she showed me this ludicrous post as to your opinion as to why Roman Reyna can't be a trust worthy candidate. Notice I put OPINION, because it's not a fact, and whoever posted this obviously didn't know much about Roman. His brother was the one with ties to a hood & am sure you've all heard Roman say that it was his brother who made wrong choices and decisions. Roman was always known as the homie's brother but he himself has never played an active part in any gang, furthermore; being that he can reach out to gang members he can always take different approaches to prevent our youth from being involved and it can change allot in a positive way in many gang infested areas. If needed he'll be able to have a meeting in the heart of a hood and send a message across, and have positive results without having overly zealous officers involved unless it's necessary and I believe that's the difference between Mr. Pulido & Mr Reyna who isn't the city's puppet, he can deal with issues when problems arise and having knowledge on youth involvement in gang issues is just another reason to have him as a new mayor.

  • Why didn't Reyna reply when the police association asked him to explain himself?

    • Because Mr Reyna is running a campaign and has no time to reply or comment on irrelevant issues to who he took a picture with or even I can't dismiss the possibility of the fabrication of a posted comment on that picture.
