The Bicycle Tree has found a new Santa Ana monthly bike repair workshop location.
On the last Saturday of every month from 11 am – 4 pm, they’ll be in the East End Promenade (formerly known as the Fiesta Marketplace) in front of the historic Yost Theater at 307 N. Spurgeon St. in downtown Santa Ana.
They will be there today, Saturday, June 25, from 11 am to 4 pm.
They provide the tools and as much help as you need, while you fix your own bike. $5 suggested donation per hour. No one turned away for lack of funds.
You don’t have to show up when they open – just give yourself the time you need to get stuff done before they finish up at 4:00.
They have a full assortment of tools available. However, they do not have much in the way of parts, tires, chains, etc. Please visit your favorite local bike shop and get what you need (Janet’s Bike Shop is a couple blocks away). They will be happy to help you with installations, adjustments, and repairs. They pretty much do it all – come true those wheels, adjust those derailleurs, fix them brakes, replace that chain, and overhaul your hubs, bottom bracket, and headset. They can also help you saw your bike in half if you want.
The idea is for you to learn while you do it yourself (even the vastly experienced learn a tiny bit each time they do something). They will not fix your bike for you, but they’re there for you and will often lend a hand.
They’re excited to be in this new location, and are thankful to those who have helped them get this spot.
