REP. SANCHEZ ANNOUNCES SIGNIFICANT GRANTS FOR LOCAL STEM EDUCATION
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-47) today announced that Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) and California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) have been selected as recipients of the Hispanic-Serving Institutions STEM and Articulation Programs Grant. Each school will receive nearly $1,200,000 in funding for the next five years to develop and expand their capacity to serve Hispanic and other low-income students.
“I congratulate Rancho Santiago Community College District and California State University, Fullerton for receiving such impressive grants,” said Sanchez. “STEM education is fundamental to prepare our children for jobs in a more technically-oriented economy. This is vital for our nation’s economic security. I am proud to have supported legislation in the 111th Congress that made this grant opportunity a reality. As a longtime advocate of STEM education I am thrilled to see that students in my district, especially those most in need, will have the opportunity to excel in mathematics and the sciences and thus ensure our success as a nation.”
The STEM program seeks to increase the number of students attaining degrees in STEM fields by increasing the number of math and science teachers in schools, reforming teaching methods and fostering and supporting students’ interest in STEM subjects. Priority was given to schools that aim to increase the number of Hispanic and other low income students attaining degrees in STEM education and to develop model transfer and articulation agreements between 2-year Hispanic-serving institutions and 4-year institutions in such fields.
Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez is proud to represent California’s 47th Congressional District, which includes the cities of Anaheim, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, and parts of Fullerton in Orange County. She serves as Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces and a senior member of the Committee on Homeland Security. Rep. Sanchez is also a member of the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Coalition and sits on the bipartisan, bicameral Joint Economic Committee.

And of course the underserved and the vulnerable get the golden goose again. Any one what to say what we all need to say....RACISTS!
When all families are hurting and especially the underserved and overly taxed population that are Americans, play second fiddle to a race bias demorats that see the latinos as the new loser population that they can serve!
This is like the Dream Act a slap in the face to hard working American and legal American's who are not Latino!
"This is like the Dream Act a slap in the face to hard working American and legal American’s who are not Latino!"...... Hmmmm
It is not just "slap in the face" but Cicinelli's hit in the face eight times with the Taser. (See the picture of the face)
Latino's dropout rate from the SA College is over 75%.
Where is the Dream?
I know it is ridiculous. Just spoke with a woman today about how viet kids in her village walk 45 mins to get to a school cause they want to learn and we import a population that could not care less. I say take the grant money and send it where it is needed and stop catering to an endless pit of stupidity!
Pees me off!
