Prominent Latino leaders to host a reception for Michele Martinez on 3/23

Some folks take Santa Ana Council Member Michele Martinez for granted, but consider for a moment how much support she has for her campaign for the 69th Assembly District – not just here in Santa Ana but statewide.  You see over the past few years Martinez has been very busy contributing to an organization called NALEO (the National Association of Latino Elected Officials) and another one called SCAG (the Southern California Association of Governments).

Martinez is in fact very popular – unlike her Democratic opponents.  Sure, O.C. Clerk-Recorder Tom Daly has a following, but so did Tom Umberg, and what did that get him?  A lopsided loss to Supervisor Janet Nguyen.  I suspect Daly is headed for a similar end.  And what about labor hack Julio Perez?  The fact is, no one knows who he is.  It will cost him a million dollars to develop the name I.D. that Martinez already has!

This Friday, March 23, Martinez’s supporters in L.A. County are hosting a fundraising event for her, in El Monte.  Check out who is on the Host Committee:

Assemblyman Roger Hernandez, Alhambra Mayor Luis Ayala, Cudahy Mayor Josue Barrios, Baldwin Park Mayor Manuel Lozano, Baldwin Park Councilwoman Marlen Garcia, Baldwin Park Councilwoman Monica Garcia, Baldwin Park Councilwoman Susan Rubio, Bell Gardens Councilman PedroAceituno, Duarte Councilman Phil Reyes, El Monte Councilwoman Norma Macias, Hawthorne Councilman Alex Vargas, South El Monte Councilman Joseph Gonzales, Azusa USD President Xilonin Cruz-Gonzalez, Basset USD Board Member Laura Santos, El Monte UHSD Board Member Juanita Gonzales, Montebello USD Board Member Hector Chacon and Pasadena USD Board Member Ramon Miramontes

That is pretty darn impressive!  Perez’ own neighbors don’t know who he is.  But Latino leaders all over California are backing Martinez.  Game over for the overmatched Perez!
