Poll: Will you vote for Gov. Brown’s tax extension measure?

[poll id=”5″]

Gov. Jerry Brown has been using the bully pulpit to get the public behind his plan to solve the state’s fiscal problems, and it seems to be working.  He has begun to earn the trust of voters, political analysts say, by talking directly to them about difficult decisions that he’s willing to make “at this stage of my life,” according to the Mercury News.

What do you think?  Will you vote for Gov. Brown’s tax extension measure?  Or have you had enough of taxes and will you vote no, and insist that Brown cut some more?

Labor unions figure to get behind Brown’s proposal.  School teachers in particular will argue that it is better to vote to extend a few taxes than to cut our school budgets further.

What say you?

  • Yeah, somehow I have confidence that the people of California will not be so stupid as to pay more to pay for public workers for services that mostly go to illegal Aliens and their kids!

    Just a guess!

  • Because of the clauses in union contracts, Some time in March the state will send out pink slip notices to just about everyone working for the state. That will give state employees 3 months or so to think about higher taxes vs no job.

Even tho the tax increase lost 2 to 1 last time, I expect it to pass this June by 2 to 1.

    • cook,

You could be right. The Republicans aren't exactly coming up with many good ideas to counter this.

As I have stated before, we could save millions by: getting rid of the death penalty; reforming three strikes to include only violent felonies; ending the drug war and legalizing all forms of gambling - and taxing them.

  • Art has some good ideas. Too bad he can't be Governor. Too bad he has to work on behalf of other people. I guess we all have to keep ourselves in check.

    • LOL! I will just be happy if the Governor comes close to adopting some of my ideas. Sadly, he is beholden to the same corporate and labor interests that have made a mess of things in California for years...

  • it got killed last time after they wanted 2 years , now they want 5 years hell no . cut the public employee pensions , taxes are way to high and way too much regulations in this state . thats why all busniness are leaving the state .

  • The fact is that unions and the welfare state is killing this place. This state have over 500,000 people on some sort of public assistance, by far the most are the children of illegal immigrants. We can go back and forth all day on who is to blame, but the truth is the money leads to public workers and the underserved and the vulnerable and then to every other tom, dick and harry who work with these people, whether it is a nonprofit, or a private community services business.

So the moral is we have NO money to pay for the ridiculous pension that the public workers get here and we can no longer pay to house, clothe and keep Mexico's people!

  • Wow I love how everyone that opposes the tax extension spews hatred for the school system. So tell me, how many of your kids are in the public school system? California is ranked 45th in educational excellence. Thats sad. With the budget cuts two years ago I saw both my kids the quality of educational program go down the tubes because of the cuts, and now greedy people are ok with more cuts just so they dont have to pay? And in the same token the parents want top of the line education lol

  • LOL Cut public pensions. You mean teachers salary? Does anyone know how little salary a teacher makes???? 30 thousand a year! Thats not alot, the pensions are even less

At the same time teachers need 6 years of education on top of the three credentials and testing, not including internship

  • Try again Jamie. Average teacher salary in LAUSD according to the Daily News is over $66,000 a year. And you can have summers and every holiday off!
