O.C. joyriders cited and their dirt bikes and e-motorcycles were seized

Saturday night, just before 7:30 PM, we received numerous calls of teenagers recklessly riding electric motorcycles and dirt bikes around Foothill Ranch Towne Centre, causing disturbances to businesses and customers. O.C. Sheriff deputies responded, activating emergency lights and sirens as they approached the riders, according to the OC Sheriff.

As the riders fled upon our arrival, fortunately, OCSD Air Support Unit was overhead and relayed the riders’ whereabouts to the ground units. Deputies later met around El Toro and Destry, where the riders attempted to hide. Multiple citations for California Vehicle Code violations were issued, and two electric off-road motorcycles along with one dirt bike were impounded for 30 days.

It’s crucial to remember that these types of off-road vehicles must adhere to specific regulations before hitting the roadways. Without proper modifications (if available) to make them street legal, they should not be operated on Lake Forest roadways – or any roadways in Orange County.
