Mayor Pulido selected to serve on the OCTA Board again

OCTA Board Members Chosen by City Selection Committee

Five members returning to the board and one new member will join OCTA

ORANGE ­– The City Selection Committee met Thursday and elections were held to appoint six members to the Orange County Transportation Authority Board of Directors, with five members being reappointed to the board and one new member being appointed to fill a vacancy.

The following appointments were made:

  • In the 1st supervisorial district, Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido was re-elected to the OCTA Board. This term is for two years, beginning January 2015 and expiring December 2016.
  • In the 2nd supervisorial district, Seal Beach Councilmember Gary Miller was re-elected to the OCTA Board. This term is for two years, beginning January 2015 and expiring December 2016.
  • Also in the 2nd supervisorial district, Costa Mesa Mayor Jim Righeimer was elected to the OCTA board. He will fill the seat vacated by Matthew Harper, who was elected to the state Assembly. This term is for one year, which begins upon vacancy of the seat and expires December 2015.
  • In the 3rd supervisorial district, Irvine Mayor Pro Tem Jeff Lalloway, was re-elected to the OCTA Board. This term is for two years, beginning January 2015 and expiring December 2016.
  • In the 4th supervisorial district, La Habra Councilmember Tim Shaw was re-elected to the OCTA Board. This term is for two years, beginning January 2015 and expiring December 2016.
  • In the 5th supervisorial district, San Clemente Councilmember Lori Donchak was re-elected to the OCTA Board. This term is for two years, beginning January 2015 and expiring December 2016.

The City Selection Committee is comprised the mayors of each of Orange County’s 34 cities and is administered by the Clerk of the Board of Orange County. The committee makes appointment to regional boards and commissions like OCTA, the Local Agency Formation Commission and others.

The OCTA board is responsible for overseeing the transportation agency including the countywide bus and paratransit service, Metrolink rail service, the 91 Express Lanes, Measure M implementation, freeway, street and road improvements projects and motorist services. The board is comprised of 17 elected members and the Caltrans District 12 director, who serves as a non-voting member.
