Community: City of Santa Ana Announces New Homeless Services Manager

SANTA ANA, CA (February 12, 2018) – The City of Santa Ana welcomes Hafsa Kaka (pronounced Kay-ka), the City’s new Homeless Services Manager. Hafsa has made a career as a homeless services professional, working over ten years as a Social Worker providing a variety of services to individuals, including youth and adults experiencing homelessness. She will be joining us from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, where she served as the Coordinated Entry System Coordinator (CES). In this role, she provided oversight and guidance to various agencies in identifying and supporting system level gaps and barriers. She also coordinated community coalitions and networked with stakeholders to impact and facilitate policies and protocols within homeless services. In addition, Hafsa engaged in oversight and planning of permanent supportive housing projects integrated with CES throughout the County of Los Angeles.

Prior to this position, Hafsa served as the Associate Director of Homeless Services for Lamp Community, Inc. located on “Skid Row” in Los Angeles where she utilized the Homeless Management Information System to identify systematic gaps and program needs to enhance strategic solutions to reduce homelessness. Hafsa has a Masters in Social Work from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and a B.A in Psychology and Social Behavior and Criminology Law and Society from the University of California, Irvine.

Hafsa will be a valuable addition to the City of Santa Ana as we implement long-term and short-term solutions to address and reduce homelessness. This position was approved on September 19, 2017 by the City Council as part of the Homeless Intervention and Mitigation Plan. La ciudad de Santa Ana anuncia a su nueva Administradora de Servicios para Personas sin Hogar

SANTA ANA, CA (12 de Febrero de 2018) – La ciudad de Santa Ana da la vienvenida a Hafsa Kaka (pronunciado Kay-ka), la nueva Administradora de Servicios para Personas sin Hogar. Hafsa ha hecho una carrera como profesional de servicios para personas sin hogar, trabajando más de diez años como Trabajadora Social brindando una variedad de servicios a individuos, jóvenes y adultos sin hogar. Antes de llegar a Santa Ana, ella trabajó en la Autoridad de Servicios para Personas sin Hogar de Los Ángeles, donde se desempeñó como Coordinadora del Sistema de Entrada (CES). En esta función, proporcionó supervisión y orientación a varias agencias para identificar y respaldar las deficiencias y las barreras a nivel sistemático. También coordinó unión comunitaria y estableció contactos con grupos interesados para impactar y facilitar normas y protocolos dentro de los servicios para personas sin hogar. Además, Hafsa participó en la supervisión y planificación de proyectos de viviendas permanentes integrados con CES en todo el condado de Los Ángeles.

Antes de ocupar este puesto, Hafsa se desempeñó como Directora de Servicios para Personas sin Hogar en Lamp Community, Inc. ubicada en “Skid Row” en Los Ángeles, donde utilizó el Sistema de Información de Administración de Personas sin Hogar para identificar las deficiencias y necesidades del programa para dar mejores soluciones estratégicas y reducir la falta de vivienda. Hafsa tiene una Maestría en Trabajo Social de la Universidad de Minnesota Twin Cities y una Licenciatura en Psicología y Comportamiento Social y Criminología de la Universidad de California, Irvine.

Hafsa será una valiosa adición a la Ciudad de Santa Ana. Juntos con Hafsa, implementaremos soluciones a corto y largo plazo para dirigir y reducir la falta de vivienda. Este puesto fue aprobado el 19 de Septiembre de 2017 por el Consejo Municipal de Santa Ana como parte del Plan de Intervención y Mitigación de Personas sin Hogar.
