Has Roman Reyna been missing in action at the SAUSD School Board?

A friend of mine recently spoke to two members of the SAUSD School Board – and what they had to say about their colleague, Roman Reyna, was interesting.  Apparently Reyna is often late to School Board meetings and he even skips meetings.  They also said that he has lacked engagement and seemed disinterested.

Reyna’s supporters have been adamant that he is all about the kids, yet he allegedly has a poor record at the SAUSD School Board and he is quitting the board after only one term, in order to run for Ward 5 on the Santa Ana City Council.

We have previously looked at Reyna’s career.  This guy has spent his entire adult life working for the Santa Ana Parks and Rec Department, the Santa Ana Boys and Girls Club and the Santa Ana YMCA.  I guess if you need to hire a guy to throw a picnic or set up a volleyball game, then he’s your man.

Reyna’s opponent for Ward 5, Karina Onofre, has a college degree, which Reyna lacks, and is a professional property manager.  She has also run her own business, a publishing enterprise.  And she has attended every single candidates forum this year, while Reyna blew off the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce forum, and the forty or so business owners who showed up for that event.

Reyna also is on record as supporting every single tax increase measure on the November ballot, and he also supported the red tape aspect of the bogus “Sunshine Ordinance” passed last week by the Benavides Council Cartel.

It is becoming increasingly clear that we need to vote for Onofre in Ward 5!

  • This guy has missed most of the school board meetings! Ask anyone of his fellow school board members. He's irresponsible, lacks genuine care for education, and does not connect with the adults in the school board. So, how will he do with our city? Is he just a stamp vote for his buddies? No brain here.

  • Jose , you are not telling the truth. I am told by his colleagues he is the opposite of what you posted. Just ask them.

    • LOL. Probably John Palacio, who is running Reyna's campaign.

Besides Palacio can you tell us which school board members have endorsed Reyna?

  • I find it QUITE INTERESTING how Pedroza did not support any candidate running for ward 5. Now he suddenly gives his FULL support to Onofre. Could Reyna really be that bad? That must be it!

"And Reyna will very likely win.

Reyna has the support of Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido and Council Member David Benavides. I am pretty sure most of the Council will line up behind him. Reyna used to work at the Santa Ana Boys and Girls Club and he now works at the Santa Ana YMCA. He goes to church locally and has a lot of friends in the city. He will be a force to be reckoned with as a Council candidate.

Onofre, I think, would be better served running for the SAUSD School Board." - Editor

You yourself clearly stated that Reyna is already going to win the election, that Onofre should spend her time on school board instead, so what's up with that?

    • Take a look at the date on that article. Reyna has since joined the doomed Benavides faux revolution. And in that time he has come out in support of every single tax increase measure on the November ballot.

Reyna harmed himself, as did Benavides, by turning on Mayor Pulido. And by allying with the leftist Amezcua rabble. He may yet win but he is now damaged goods.

As for Onofre she has now emerged as a viable candidate. She has a great shot at this seat as Reyna continues to wallow in his gaffes.

  • Did you notice the OC REgister has it's political info site up? I noticed that there are several Santa Ana candidates who now have a photo and platform to go along with their names on the ballot.

  • Mr. Art:
Do these "new majority" team Sarmiento characters have any gas in the tank? I noticed over the weekend that both Reyna and Benavides are using OLD campaign signs they must have fished out of the trash after elections. They then put Stickers over the the past offices they ran for with the name of their now office being sought. Isn't that a sign of a campaign with no juice? Don't they say Money is the mothers milk of politics? If that's true, I think these guys don't even have enough cash for
    Simolac or Enfamil!

Reyna is the same guy then and now the only difference as you point out is that Reyna supports Benavides and not Pulido when you wrote in favor of Reyna you thought Reyna supported Pulido and Pulido supported Reyna.

So....in your opinion everything in support of Pulido is pure . Never mind conflicting histories.
