Sacramento—Governor Gavin Newsom issued a proclamation celebrating National Apprenticeship Week (NAW), taking place from November 17-23. The Department of Industrial Relations’ (DIR) Division of Apprenticeship Standards (DAS) is honored by the recognition, which exemplifies the state’s commitment to building a robust apprenticeship system that continues to strengthen the economy and address income inequality.
In celebration of NAW, numerous events are taking place throughout the state. Employers and organizations are opening their doors to apprentices, providing them with opportunities to learn about various careers. Additionally, informational forums are offering communities valuable insights into workforce development trends. Apprenticeships are a viable career pathway for people to secure good paying jobs while also meeting industry demands.
Established by the U.S. Department of Labor, National Apprenticeship Week showcases the impact that registered apprenticeship programs have on advancing equity and building a strong economy.
DAS consults with employers to develop a skilled workforce, by establishing innovative apprenticeship programs that offer training, to create viable career pathways for Californians.
