Gang member shot a few blocks from Segerstrom High School

A man who admitted to being a gang member was shot at around 5:30 p.m. yesterday at the 3500 block of South Fairview Street, in Santa Ana, in what the SAPD believes was a gang-related attack, according to the O.C. Register.

When the police arrived at the scene the shooting victim was gone however a few hours later the Fountain Valley Regional Medical Center contacted the police to report that they were treating a man with a gunshot wound to his right thigh.

Of course when the police investigators tried to interview the shooting victim he was not cooperative.  He is however expected to survive his injuries.

No word yet on who the suspects are.  Most likely this will go down as yet another random act of gang violence in Santa Ana.

This incident happened a few blocks from Segerstrom High School, in Ward 6, which is represented by Councilman Sal Tinajero.

  • Man shot in Santa Ana alley
    Sept. 19, 2015 Updated 11:36 p.m.
SANTA ANA – An 18-year-old man was wounded in what Santa Ana Police describe as a possible drive-by shooting Saturday evening.

The police received an 8:38 p.m. call reporting shots fired in the 300 block of South Birch Street, Sgt. David Lima said. Officers arrived at the scene and found a Hispanic man with gunshot wounds in an alley. He was transported to Orange County Global Medical Center and was in stable condition.

The man, shot twice in the leg, was not cooperative with police officers and refused to give information, Lima said.

Witnesses heard five to seven gunshots before seeing a red pickup truck leave, Lima said. No one else was hurt.

The police have no other information on the shooter, Lima said, adding that the incident is under investigation.

  • I remember this shooting well. My understanding was he was shot on a street in my neighborhood and made it out to Fairview. Also, it was gang members that did the shooting. We know, kids in the neighborhood know, everyone knows who these people are. Why don't the police know and do something about it?
