Enter to win two bikes and Fitbits during the OCTA’s Bike Month

Celebrate Bike Month With OCTA

Improve your health, help the environment and cut the costs of driving by hopping on a bicycle to celebrate Bike Month with the Orange County Transportation Authority.

National Bike Month encourages cyclists of all ages to go outside to ride their bikes to school, work or around town. Pledge to ride your bike anytime during May on OCTA.net/BikeMonth to be entered to win one of two bikes and Fitbits. Cyclists can also record their rides on OCTA’s Strava club for a chance to win.

The Bike Month festivities begin at the OCTA Bike Festival from 7 AM to 6 PM on April 30. This year, the festival will be located at the Dana Point Grand Prix of Cycling, near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Street of the Golden Lantern. Attendees can enjoy a BMX stunt show, plus free bicycle safety checks, safety lights, giveaways and more fun for the whole family.

Bicyclists are also invited to the OCTA Bike Rally at 7:30 a.m. on May 18. Participants will receive a free Bike Month T-shirt and can join OCTA in a recreational group ride from the Orange Metrolink Station to OCTA Headquarters, 550 S. Main St. in Orange.

Additional Bike Month events include:

  • May 10: Bike to School Day – Join students, families and communities around the country in celebrating the benefits of cycling to school.
  • May 15-19: Bike to Work Week – Get free rides on Metrolink all week long when you bring your bike.
  • May 16: Ride with Caltrans – Take a group bike ride from the new Caltrans District 12 office (1750 E. 4th St. in Santa Ana) to the Tustin train station, then take a free Metrolink ride to Downtown Santa Ana. The group will meet at the Caltrans office at 7:30 a.m., board the train at 9 a.m. and return to the office at 10 a.m.
  • May 17: Ride of Silence – The Ride of Silence honors those who have lost their lives or have been seriously injured while bicycling. Groups will depart at dusk, around 7 p.m., from locations in Fullerton, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Orange and Santa Ana.
