Bustamante facing a recall, may resign and be replaced by another Republican

Is it Sandy Nalle time in Santa Ana’s Ward 3?

Santa Ana Councilman Carlos Bustamante is now facing the threat of a recall, according to a source who is tight with the Santa Ana City Council majority.

I am told that Bustamante will ultimately resign rather than face the embarrassment of being recalled.  And here is the odd part – the City Council is considering replacing him with a non-Latino Republican!  Who says they don’t appreciate diversity?

The supposed candidates to replace Bustamante include:

Nalle actually ran against Bustamante back in 2004. He had the support of Mayor Miguel Pulido – and in hindsight we would have been better off if Nalle had won. Nalle works in real estate. Click here to read his bio. Nalle got over 18,000 votes, according to Smart Voter. As such he deserves consideration as a replacement for Bustamante.

I know McLaughlin and I respect him. He antagonized a few folks in town by being one of the leaders of the Nativo Lopez recall, but that was awhile ago and Lopez had detractors on both the left and the right.

Richardson would be a very offensive choice. He is one of the County of Orange administrators busted over the summer for accepting and granting pay raises that did not meet County HR guidelines.  He is thought to be the guy who brought Bustamante to the County of Orange.  Richardson replaced Lopez on the SAUSD Board – and nothing changed for the better.  He really needs to get booted off the SAUSD Board next year, when he faces reelection.  Getting stuck with him on the Council would be an insult to us all.

I previously wrote about other candidates to replace Bustamante.  Click here to read that post.

  • If there is a deal cut to replace Bustamante before official City Council action - that would be a violation of the Brown Act. Our "fine" SA City Council wouldn't do that .... would they? ;-)

    • It us hard to say exactly what is going on, but what I find fascinating is this desire to replace Bustamante with another Republican. Oh well, anyone but Bustamante ..

  • "but what I find fascinating is this desire to replace Bustamante with another Republican"....... Hmmmmmm

What I find fascinating is your desire to replace Bustamante with another Democrat if there are already 6 of 7 democrats serving.

    Mine blowing?

Maybe your Mill should switch party to Republicans or what happened to that republican clown of yours Gordon?

  • "that would be a violation of the Brown Act"...... Hmmmm

Not really junior if they would spontaneously acted on my recommendation. I have motivated them as follows:

    Dear Miguel,

You may recall that during the of July 16, 2007 council meeting, public comments, on behalf of my 10,000 strong constituency, I have presented you with the herein attached Certificate of Recognition as a satiric expression re Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa scandal.

    Therefore, tank you again!

During that meeting I have also made following statement: There is nothing more embarrassing to the public than having elected leaders to get caught.

I wish that others on the council would pay attention to my Bohemian advise, including the city's prosperity.

  • "Mill and Gordon live in Sal’s Ward"...... that is a departure from your prior post in which you claim tat Mill lives in Bustamante ward.

However, there is very minimal requirement for residency. I believe it is 30 days prior appointment. After that the council member may move.

    • What I wrote was that Mill is the only planning commissioner who does not live in Ward 3. Mill isn't moving. There are plenty of other candidates being considered.

  • "There are plenty of other candidates being considered"..... Hmmmm

Would I qualify if I would "OCCUPY WARD3"?

  • What recall?

If there be a recall, why stop with just one?

Anyway, the wards have yet to be redrawn.

With straight north to south lines dissecting the city, you could get 2 wards with 3 current councilmember’s each to fight it out and open up 4 wards to fresh meat.

Orange school district did that to get rid of Rocco. And Rocco is in ward 3 too, how does ketchup cabinet sound? And if Rocco declares for the 69th before Tom or Stanley, Rocco would be the leading white candidate for that office.

Since you are talking about rumors of recalls, are the other Martinez’s (Helen or Lisa) going to toss their hats into the 69th ring?

  • Busty.. You'll soon be Unemployed soon, Wife pissed at him and his Children are shamed by his actions at work. No more Power for you.. No more "Screw Up" "Move Up" Job for you.
