WESTMINSTER, CA. – On November 17, 2024, at approximately 4:45 PM, police officers responded to the area of the Civic Center in the City of Westminster at the 8200 block of Westminster Boulevard, regarding a stabbing, according to the Westminster Police Department.
The police officers arrived and found an adult male, bleeding from multiple stab wounds.
Medical aid was administered on scene by officers and OCFA were requested to the scene for continued aid.
During the investigation, the victim alleged he was walking with his child through the courtyard, when a female unknown to the victims, threw a bottle at them.
The female suspect, later identified as Victoria Vu, then walked towards the victims and produced a knife.
Vu then attempted to stab the child, at which point her father shielded her. In doing so, Vu stabbed the adult victim in the hand and in the leg. She continued to try and stab both victims, but the adult male was able to block her attempts.
Vu then walked away, but stayed in the courtyard. Officers were able to locate Vu in possession of the knife that was used.
Vu was quickly arrested without incident. It is unknown the motive for the attack and the child victim was never struck, nor did she sustain any injuries.
The victim indicated that an unknown member of the public stepped in between the suspect and victim at some point during the altercation and may have prevented further injuries to the victims.
The Westminster Police Department is seeking anyone with any information about the attack and/or the identity of the Good Samaritan that stepped in during the attack. There does not appear to be a motive in the attack and it appears to be a random act of violence.
Vu was booked into Orange County Jail for PC 664/187 – Attempted Murder, PC 273(a)a – Felony child endangerment, and PC 21510(B) – possession of a switchblade.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective J. Bellat (714) 548-3724 and/or the Westminster Police Watch Commander at (714) 548-3767. Information can also be provided to Orange County Crime Stoppers (815) TIP-OCCS or by logging onto www.occrimestoppers.org. Callers can remain
