Vista Heritage Charter Middle School’s grand opening set for Aug. 28

Vista Heritage Charter Middle School Is the First Charter Middle School to Open in Santa Ana

SANTA ANA, Calif. – August 28, 2015 – Vista Charter Public Schools, the operator of a high- performing school in Los Angeles, will host a Grand Opening for Vista Heritage Charter Middle School on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 10 a.m. at 2609 West 5th Street, Santa Ana, CA 92703.

The event will mark the opening of the new middle school in Santa Ana and the first charter middle school in the history of Santa Ana. The ceremony will feature remarks by Orange County Board of Education President Robert Hammond, Vista Charter Public Schools staff—Vahe Markarian, Lauri Martin and Eduardo Rodriguez, and other guest speakers. Join us for the ribbon cutting ceremony. Tours of the school will follow the ceremony at 10:30 am.

Vista Charter Public Schools opened its first campus five and a half years ago in Los Angeles and is replicating its success in Santa Ana. More than 90 percent of Vista students are Latino and 90 percent are low-income.

Vista Heritage Charter Middle School serves 300 students in grades six to seven (first year) and 420 students in grades six to eight (after the second year).

Vista Heritage Charter Middle School is operated by Vista Charter Public Schools, a charter school management organization that runs one high-performing public charter school in educationally underserved communities in the Rampart area of Los Angeles.

This school year marks the start of Vista Charter Public Schools’ planned expansion, which will take us to 5 schools serving 2,000 students in grades K to eight by 2020. More than 90 percent of Vista Heritage students are Latino and more than 90 percent are low-income.

Vista Heritage Charter Middle School features a 1:1 computer ratio of students and technology—every student at Vista Heritage will receive a chromebook to take home to close the digital divide in our Santa Ana community by providing a digital curriculum. Vista Schools prides itself on facilitating Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) for every student, which provides opportunities for parents, students, teachers and administrators to continue the dialogue of student learning, as well as, student interventions in order to prepare and support students in achieving their personal and academic goals. At Vista Heritage, as well as Vista Charter Public Schools, students typically spend 10,000 instructional minutes more than their peers in traditional public schools.
