Two victims were wounded by a shooter who allegedly barricaded himself in a Santa Ana home

Two men were injured early Sunday morning in Santa Ana by a suspect who shot them then barricaded himself as the situation turned into a police standoff.

The shooting happened at around 3:43 a.m. near the intersection of North Raitt Street and West 2nd Street in the area between the Artesia Pilar and Casa Bonita Neighborhoods, a half mile northeast of the Santa Ana City Yard.

When SAPD police officers arrived at the scene of the shooting they found two victim suffering from gunshot wounds and they received information that the suspected shooter might be hiding in a nearby home.

The SAPD sent a team of police officers and an armored vehicle to surround the home where they suspected the shooter was holed up as of 6:30 a.m. this morning. They also evacuated a number of local residents including young children.

The SAPD has not yet divulged if the shooter acted randomly or specifically targeted the two victims. The SAPD has not yet updated the situation so it may be some time before we find out more about the motivation for the crime.

OCFA firefighter paramedics treated both victims, who were described as male adults, and rushed them to local emergency rooms where they were listed in stable condition.
