Two men were attested by the SAPD on Monday afternoon, while the rest of us were enjoying the Memorial Day holiday, after they were pulled over and three guns were found in their car, according to the O.C. Register.
The police officers spotted the suspects, who were in a silver Nissan Sentra that was believed to have been carjacked last week, at about 4:30 p.m., at the 600 block of North Lacy St., near Garfield Elementary School, according to the SAPD. As is usually the case in these incidents the driver sped off when the police officers tried to pull them over.
The police officers followed the suspects for about two blocks, where the pursuit ended when the suspects crashed into an unoccupied, parked car at the 300 block of North Garfield St.
One man was immediately arrested but the one one took off into the neighborhood. However he gave himself up about half an hour later, a block away, at the 900 block of East Fourth St. The suspect surrendered after the police announced via loudspeakers that they were going to send in police dogs to track him down.
Ironically the police officers discovered during their investigation that the crashed Sentra was not in fact the vehicle taken in the aforementioned carjacking – however they did find three handguns inside the vehicle.
The suspects, who were not identified, were both arrested for gun possession but it is not yet know if they will face charges for trying to evade the police. Of course both suspects already had criminal records. Now they can add more charges to their sordid resumes.
This incident happened in Santa Ana’s Ward 2, which is represented by Mayor Pro Tem Michele Martinez.
