On a Tuesday night (4-2-24) at approximately 9:45 pm, patrol officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle in the area of Hamilton Ave. and Brookhurst St. An officer located the vehicle and followed until several additional officers arrived to assist, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
Once there were sufficient officers present and the HB-1 police helicopter above for air support, an enforcement stop was initiated.
The driver refused to stop and a pursuit immediately ensued. After a short distance, the vehicle collided with a parked vehicle and curb and became disabled. Both the male driver and female passenger fled on foot and split up.
HB-1 coordinated with officers on the ground and after a foot pursuit, both suspects were taken into custody without incident.
One of the officer’s foot pursuit “workout” was recorded on his watch.
The investigation continued and in the recovered stolen vehicle, officers located burglary tools and stolen mail that had been reported in February within the Villa Pacific Community (Hamilton and Brookhurst).
The case was submitted to the OCDA’S Office and the suspects were charged accordingly:
Coincidentally, both Palos and Breceda were out on bail from a residential burglary and stolen vehicle pursuit (together again) by HBPD officers in November of 2023.
Both Palos and Breceda are currently in custody at the Orange County Jail with bail set at $150,000 each. No additional details will be released at this time.
