Tustin man to be charged with stabbing murder of Garden Grove man

MAN TO BE ARRAIGNED FOR STABBING-MURDER

WESTMINSTER – A man is scheduled to be arraigned today for the stabbing-murder of another man in Garden Grove. Ubaldo Gutierrez Jr., 25, Tustin, was charged today with one felony count of murder with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon. He is being held on $1 million bail and is scheduled to be arraigned today in Department W-2, West Justice Center, Westminster. The time is to be determined.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 16, 2014, Gutierrez is accused of stabbing 19-year-old Cesar Bravo in his abdomen region and murdering him inside the victim’s home in Garden Grove. The defendant is accused of fleeing the scene. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died of his injuries.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Garden Grove Police Department, who arrested Gutierrez early the next morning.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Cynthia Herrera of the Homicide Unit is prosecuting this case.
