The Westminster Police Department is currently investigating a hit-and-run collision that occurred on October 19, 2023, at approximately 5:30 p.m., at the intersection of Vallecito Avenue and University Street.
The victim was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk on Vallecito Avenue when a red vehicle made a left turn from westbound Vallecito Avenue to southbound University Street and failed to stop for the victim. The red vehicle collided with the victim as she put her arms out to protect her and her dog from the impending collision.
The driver of the red vehicle kept driving southbound on University St. and did not stop to check on the victim. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.
The vehicle was described as an older red 2 door coupe with a partial Massachusetts license plate. The last three numbers of the license plate are 362. The driver was only described as a female.
