To prevent drunk driving, patrol officers routinely conduct patrol checks on the streets near local bars, according to the Tustin Police Department.
Last night, a Tustin police officer observed a vehicle that was stopped in the roadway near numerous bars that had recently closed. The officer noticed a male was passed out in the driver’s seat. The vehicle was boxed in by responding officers and the driver was safely removed from the vehicle. The driver, who had previously been convicted of driving under the influence, was arrested for DUI and booked at Orange County Jail.
All too often we discuss the dangers of drunk driving and the tragedies which happen as a result of driving under the influence. With rideshare services in the palms of our hands, choosing to drive is reckless and unacceptable.
We can all agree that the back seat of an Uber is far more pleasant than the back seat of a Tustin patrol car. Let’s plan responsibly, get home safe, and avoid trips to jail or preventable tragedies.
