In May of 2022, SAPD Chief David Valentin issued a statement addressing misinformation that included baseless attacks on the integrity of some of the most dedicated members of our police department, the Major Enforcement Team (MET).
The Santa Ana Police Department values the public’s need and desire for transparency and accountability. Thus, Chief Valentin requested the Office of Independent Review (OIR) conduct a complete and objective review and an operational assessment of MET.
The OIR has completed its review and assessment and prepared a comprehensive and objective report that includes constructive comments and recommendations. Chief Valentin has assessed the OIR’s comments and recommendations and has issued directives and policy revisions.
Please view the following video, where Chief Valentin addresses the report’s outcome and recommendations in detail.
