The SAPD is searching for a hit and run driver who slammed into an apartment, seriously injuring a woman

SANTA ANA, CA – On Monday, May 1, 2023, at 10:18 P.M., the Santa Ana Police Department received multiple calls regarding a traffic collision at 1600 W. Memory Lane. Callers reported a vehicle collided with the Vista Del Rio apartment building.

Officers from the Santa Ana Police Department and members of the Orange County Fire Authority responded to the scene. Officers located an adult female resident pinned underneath the involved vehicle. The female was transported to a local trauma center in critical condition.
 
Based on the preliminary investigation, the involved vehicle traveled south through the apartment complex parking lot. The vehicle struck multiple fixed objects before it collided with and entered the first-floor apartment. The occupant(s) of the involved vehicle fled the scene following the collision. It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
 
The Santa Ana Police Department’s Collision Investigations Unit (CIU) responded to the scene and is handling the investigation.
