The SAPD is hunting for an armed man who tried to rob a check cashing business

On August 7, 2024, a suspect entered Main Street International Check Cashing at 1425 N. Main St. He approached the front counter and handed the teller (victim) a note that read in Spanish, “Put all the money you have in this bag quickly,” according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

Simultaneously, the suspect verbally told the victim in Spanish, “…don’t push any buttons or alarms” and he brandished a weapon from his waistband. In fear, the victim pushed the panic alarm button and ran to the back of the business. The suspect was last seen fleeing northbound on Main St. on foot.

Suspect description: Male, Hispanic, 40-45 years old, 5’5” tall, 150 lbs., black hair, brown eyes, mustache, thin build, dark complexion, wearing a blue baseball cap with the word “California”, blue tank top, black pants, and sunglasses.

Detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect involved in an attempted armed robbery at a check cashing business.
