Santa Ana Police Department Advisory: SAPD Traffic Collision Investigation
On 10/22/12, 1325 hours, officers responded to an injury traffic collision near the intersection of MacArthur and Harbor Blvd. It was reported that a motorcyclist was still lying in the street.
When Officers arrived, it was determined that the motorcyclist was the only party involved. The investigation concluded the motorcyclist was traveling at approximately 30 MPH when he had just changed lanes behind a vehicle that stopped suddenly. The motorcyclist braked and laid down his bike to avoid the vehicle and was then thrown from the bike.
The motorcyclist was transported from the scene with multiple broken bones and internal injuries to UCI Medical Center in Orange where he had surgery and was stabilized.
On 10/24/12, the SAPD Traffic Collision Investigators were notified by the OC Sheriffs/Coroner’s office that the motorcyclist had succumbed to his injuries due to complications. The next of kin was present at the time.
The forensic investigation will be handled by the Orange County Sheriff’s/Coroner’s Office.
