Advisory: SAPD Continues Investigation Of Fatal Hit & Run Collision – Victim Identified
Victim: Juan Manuel Segura, (57) resident of Orange
On Sunday, September 10th, 2017 at 7:53 pm, officers responded to the intersection of Broadway and Borchard regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian collision with the pedestrian still trapped under a vehicle. OCFA responded to the scene and extracted the victim out from under the vehicle. The victim was later identified as Juan Manuel Segura, a 57-year old resident of Orange, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Witnesses at the scene reported a black pick-up truck, unknown make and model was possibly the suspect vehicle. That vehicle had been driving southbound on Broadway at Borchard when the victim was struck. The black truck fled the scene without stopping to render aid and identify themselves. The truck was last seen fleeing the scene southbound Broadway to eastbound on Edinger Ave out of sight. There should be damage from the collision to the left front portion of the suspect vehicle.
After being struck by the first vehicle the victim came to rest in the northbound lanes of 1400 S Broadway. A second vehicle travelling northbound on Broadway then struck the victim, who was still in the street as a result of the original collision. The driver of the second vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with officers conducting the investigation. The SAPD Collision Investigation Unit responded to the scene to handle the investigation. At the time of the original incident, the victim had no identification and was classified as a John Doe. The Orange County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene to conduct their investigation. The Coroner’s Office was able to identify the victim as Juan Manuel Segura, a 57 year old resident of Orange. The Coroner’s Office located the victim’s family and has made the death notification.
