The SAPD found an apparent homicide victim at a local motel

A person was found dead in at the Sunshine Village motel in Santa Ana Tuesday, and SAPD police detectives are investigating it as an apparent homicide, according to ABC News.

SAPD police officers responded to the motel, which is located at 1427 E. First St., to do a welfare check, after 5 a.m., according to the O.C. Register.

The initial call to the SAPD came from the CHP after authorities investigated a broken-down vehicle in Tulare County and spoke to the driver. He was later described as a person of interest in the case.

In a tweet, the SAPD later announced that  homicide detectives were on their way to Fresno to interview a male who had been detained in the case.

SAPD police investigators re-entered the motel room to collect evidence after they obtained a search warrant.

The SAPD was unable to release any details about the victim or the manner of death. Nor was any information provided about any alleged suspects.
