The SAPD arrested a man suspected in an armed robbery at a gas station

On Friday, SAPD robbery detectives arrested November 20, 2024, Wanted Wednesday suspect Izaya Cuellar (35) of Santa Ana. Cuellar is one of three armed suspects involved in robbing a man at a gas station in Santa Ana earlier in the week.

The SAPD wants to thank the Santa Ana community for the overwhelming support and tips that helped them to identify and arrest Izaya, who victimized two people earlier this week.

The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives are still working to identify two additional suspects.

On Thursday, November 14, 2024, a victim was pumping gas when suspect #1 approached the driver’s side door. Suspect #1 brandished a firearm, pointed it at the victim, who was seated inside the vehicle with his girlfriend, and demanded their property. Suspect #2 then approached and took the stolen property from suspect #1. Meanwhile, suspect #3 stood nearby, acting as a lookout. The suspects stole two cell phones and a wallet before fleeing in a dark-colored sedan.

  • Suspect #1: Hispanic male in his late 20s to early 30s, approximately 5’9” tall, heavyset, with a mustache and beard. He was wearing prescription glasses and had a distinct tattoo in the shape of the State of California on his inner left forearm and a cross on his left hand.
  • Suspect #2: Hispanic male, wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.
  • Suspect #3: Hispanic male, in his 20’s, approximately 5’10”, and thin build. He wore a black shirt, and black pants.
