The SAPD arrested a hit and run driver who is also facing a felony DUI charge

On Sunday, September 18th, 2022, at approximately 4:58 PM, the Santa Ana Police Department received several calls of a vehicle that collided into a pedestrian waiting at a bus stop in the area of 1500 South Fairview Street.

After the collision, the vehicle fled the scene. Officers responded to the area and found an adult male at the bus stop suffering significant injuries. Orange County Fire Authority personnel responded and began to treat the male. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital for further medical treatment.

The preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling north on Fairview Street when the vehicle collided with the pedestrian. After the collision, the vehicle fled the scene. Officers located the vehicle, and the driver was taken into custody for felony driving under the influence and felony hit and run. The collision remains under investigation.

On Monday, September 19th, 2022, at approximately 2:09 AM, The Orange County Coroner’s Officer contacted the Santa Ana Police Department, advising that the pedestrian had succumbed to his injuries.
