The City of Santa Ana Planning Commission will allow residents to speak at their meeting on Monday, August 27, at 5:30 p.m. regarding the contentious plan to develop the property at 2525 N. Main St. into the Magnolia at the Park apartment complex. This has the adjacent Park Santiago Neighborhood up in arms.
Here is a note from the Park Santiago Neighborhood leaders regarding this development and this meeting:
We need you in the City Hall Chambers! LET THE PLANNING COMMISSION KNOW WE ARE OPPOSED TO THIS PROJECT. We need to impress the City with large numbers of speakers and supporters.
We urge you not to leave this opportunity to show your opposition to this project to others!
AC 2525 Main LLC (Vineyard Development Inc) changes were submitted on July 16th. The revised plan is still 496-units, still five stories of apartments, still with an 9-story parking structure, still requires General Plan Amendment and rezoning, and still unacceptable.
Limited space is available on a bus (that some neighbors have graciously rented) to take neighbors to the Aug. 27th meeting. Arrive at the First Congregation Church on Santiago between 4:15 and 4:30, the bus needs to leave at 4:40. If interested in carpooling, come to the church as well and take/ride with a neighbor. Contact nsapainfo@gmail.com for bus reservations.
We have window signs ($5), T-Shirts ($15), and lawn signs ($25) available to purchase. Show your support for this effort by ordering thru nsapainfo@gmail.com! Wearing these shirts at the city meetings DOES have an impact.
Please contact NSAPA at nsapainfo@gmail.com if you have any questions. We are here to help! We need you to attend!
While many neighbors are up in arms over this project, some have told me that the new housing is needed for medical staff that work at area hospitals just up the street in Orange, CA. However many residents remain concerned in particular about the impact this development will have on our local traffic.
