The OC rescue Mission urgently needs baby supplies

Orange County, Calif. – The Orange County Rescue Mission has announced a vital need for baby items for the homeless families residing at its transitional living facilities.

The nonprofit organization is inviting the community to donate any number of baby diapers, clothing, wipes and food, which are essential to the young children living at the Rescue Mission’s Village of Hope.

Donated items will be shared during the Rescue Mission’s “Christmas in July” event on Friday, July 28, 2023. The annual event serves to provide resident families with a second chance at a holiday celebration and a reminder to the community that donations are needed year-round.

“Sadly, it’s very common for homeless families to miss the holidays in December, and this annual event is a special opportunity for them to make up for lost time,” said Bryan Crain, chief operating officer of Orange County Rescue Mission.

The Christmas in July event aids in keeping spirits high and reminding residents that their futures can be bright. It also serves as a call for critical donations that contribute to the success of residents and combatting hunger in the community.

“The spirit of giving always spikes around the holidays, but for many the struggle continues way beyond that season of generosity. Most people don’t realize how bad some families – especially the children – have it in Orange County,” Crain said. “By summer, we are usually short of resources and still need to provide families in need with hygienic products and basic nourishment.”

Donations can be dropped off at the Rescue Mission’s Village of Hope or delivered directly to Orange County Rescue Mission, 1 Hope Drive, Tustin, CA 92782.
